Spring is in the air! Now is the time to get fit and ensure your health is good so you can enjoy life as summer approaches. Here are our top tips for a healthy spring and summer ahead.
- Diet: a good diet is essential. Enrich your diet with foods and herbs that come into season during the spring to boost your nutrient intake and support your body’s natural ability to detox. Spring foods are lighter than winter foods e.g. colourful salads, fruits and fresh local produce. Visiting your local farmers market is a great way to get local produce.
2. Exercise: join a local gym or swimming pool and / or immerse yourself in nature and exercise outdoors and go walking, cycling, running which are all free! Exercise is a great way to build up your immunity, reduce stress and increase your aerobic fitness
3. Hydration: drink plenty of water (up to 8 glasses per day), preferably distilled water to flush out all the toxins and keep the body hydrated especially during increased levels of exercise
4. Sunlight: walk in the sunshine and soak in the suns rays as this stimulates the production of Vitamin D which is vital for the body’s immune system
5. Rest: Listen to your body and if it feels tired go with it and rest and recharge. This will avoid burnout
6. Sleep: The body heals and repairs during sleep so it is important to get a good nights sleep preferably eight hours
7. Reduce exposure to technology prior to sleep: Let your body naturally wind down before sleep
8. Spring clean your home: Freshen and renew your home by spring cleaning inside and outside – it will make you feel great
9. Use natural cleaning agents: Lemon juice, vinegar or baking soda are great for cleaning – try and reduce the amount of synthetic cleaning chemicals in your home
10. Set goals: this is a great way to stick to a plan and achieve your targets
