Staff to Participate in Tom Crean Dingle Peninsula Challenge 2024 in aid of Kerry Cancer Support Group

A team from the Aqua Dome will be participating in the exhilarating Tom Crean Dingle Peninsula Challenge in aid of the Kerry Cancer Support Group. This Challenge will include a 24-hour journey, circumventing the stunning Dingle Peninsula through walking, kayaking, running, cycling, climbing, and swimming.

On the 30th and 31st of August 2024, the Aqua Dome team will embark on a 24-hour journey and fortunately we won’t be doing it alone! This year, there will be several teams on board, including Xintec, Bookshelf, Uniquely, Rise Coaching, Ugly Mug, Cyber Kids and possibly others.

The Aqua Domes chosen charity is The Kerry Cancer Support Group which has been tirelessly providing transportation to cancer patients for their treatment since 2010. By supporting this event, you will be helping this remarkable charity which makes a difference in our communities.

Over the past three years, approximately €150,000 has been raised for various charitable causes through the Tom Crean Dingle Peninsula Challenge.

We sincerely hope that you will support us on this year’s adventure. Your contribution in any way possible, is greatly appreciated, and all the funds raised will go directly to this deserving charity.

The 24-hour challenge will kick off at 9pm on Friday, 30th August. Starting from the Aqua Dome (Tralee), we will walk the Dingle Way to Inch Beach, covering 30km. From there, we will cycle 33km to Páidi Ó Shea’s pub in Ventry, followed by an 8.5km jog over the mountain to Tig Áine’s restaurant near Cloghers beach. The journey continues with a 15km cycle to the Glens North walking trail car park, followed by a 13km hike across the Mt. Brandon (963mt) range, and descent to Faha car park near Cloghán village. The descent also includes a swim in one of the Pater Noster lakes with the faint hope of it being refreshing and bringing us back to life. Back on our bikes, the next leg takes us on a 28km cycle to Derrymore beach, followed by the penultimate leg of a 5km kayak to Fenit. The final 12.5km takes us onto the wonderful greenway, branching off at the Spa to take the coastal route to the canal and our finishing point at the Aqua Dome.

The challenge will culminate at 9pm on Saturday, 31st August, after covering a total distance of 145km (90 miles). We will keep you updated on our progress throughout, and we sincerely thank you for visiting our page and supporting this worthy cause.
