LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

KERRY COUNTY MUSEUM

Kerry County Museum was developed as an initiative of Tralee Urban District Council in two phases between 1991 and 1992. The Medieval Experience was opened in 1991 in the lower ground floor of the Ashe Memorial Hall, taking visitors through the recreated medieval town, with the sights, sounds and smells. In 1992 the main gallery of the Museum was opened, displaying the archaeology and history of the county. Thereafter, a temporary exhibition space was added, allowing for the development of major exhibitions. Today, the whole facility comprises 1,750 square metres, which includes the exhibition galleries, reception, collections store, and education room.

CRAG CAVE

Step into 1 million years of history and wonder at Crag Cave, Ireland’s most exciting show cave! At 3.82km long, Crag Cave is the longest cave in Kerry and the seventh longest cave in the Republic offering one of the finest examples of limestone cave formation in Ireland. Etched over time into a natural wonder, this 350m show cave offers an amazing view of how a cave is formed. Come and see the incredible examples of pillars, stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones, curtains and straws that have been meticulously forming over the last 15,000 years.

BLENNERVILLE WINDMILL

Blennerville Windmill stands out as the dominant landmark in Tralee Bay, where the town of Tralee meets the Dingle Peninsula. At the Blennerville Visitor Centre you will find the working windmill as well as an exhibition gallery, craft shop and restaurant. The exhibition includes an audio visual presentation, an emigration display and a bird watching platform with telescope overlooking 'Slí na nÉan' ('the Way of the Birds'). Visitors can get up close and appreciate the scale and complexity of the Windmill machinery and can climb to the top of the windmill.

TRALEE GREYHOUND STADIUM

Tralee Equestrian Centre

Situated on the foothills of the Slieve Mish Mountains overlooking Tralee Bay, Tralee Equestrian Centre is the place for all things Equestrian in Kerry. Splashsports

We are a recognised sports centre by Kerry County Council ,the ISA (Irish Sailing Association) the ISA (Irish surfing Association) and a member of the IAAT “Ireland’s Association for Adventure Tourism”. Originally called “Waterworld”, we began trading in 1990 but in 2016 changed our name to Splash Sports to avoid confusion between ourselves and the scuba dive centre “Waterworld” in the same vicinity.

Kingdom Waves Surf School

What better place to learn to surf than on one of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland? Kingdomwaves Surf School runs surf lessons and surf hire at both Inch and Banna Beach in County Kerry. Two beautiful ‘Blue Flag’ beaches surrounded by the Kerry Mountains and both popular stops on the wild atlantic way. Both beaches have been voted the best beach in Ireland by Tripadvisor visitors in recent years. Beauty aside, the consistency of the surf make both beaches an ideal place to take a surf lesson.

Waterworld Dive Centre

Waterworld is a family-run business situated in the beautiful Maharees, a peninsula, on the Dingle peninsula, Co Kerry, Ireland; surrounded on three sides by the Atlantic ocean. Ronnie and Pat Fitzgibbon are Ireland’s most qualified and experienced dive operators. They began the business in 1963 and have enjoyed taking care of divers and water sports enthusiasts ever since. They have now passed the mantle over to their children who are all highly qualified in their own fields and are as eager to pass on their love of the ocean to all they meet, as their parents before them.

ROSE OF TRALEE FESTIVAL

The Rose of Tralee International Festival is one of Ireland's largest and longest running festivals, celebrating 56 years in 2015. The heart of the festival is the selection of the Rose of Tralee which brings young women of Irish descent from around the world to County Kerry, Ireland for a global celebration of Irish culture. The festival also includes street entertainment, carnival, live concerts, theatre, circus, markets, funfair, fireworks and our internationally renowned Rose Parades. The National Circus festival is Ireland’s largest annual circus festival and one of the most exciting, emerging festivals in Ireland. The festival has lit up Tralee every November in a explosion of theatre, clown, aerial, fun, laughter, skill and absurdity. The Tralee Circus Festival began in 2001 as a juggling convention.
